Without Sublime, maintaining Subversion repositories requires direct access to the server. This greatly increases the risk of data loss or security compromise because if a user has access to the server itself, the user has full control and access to every repository on that server. In the past, organizations have addressed this risk by making a trusted few responsible for managing all repositories. However, this creates a management bottleneck which costs time and money.

Sublime addresses these issues with a safe and easy to use web administration interface. Each repository has a single owner who can manage that repository from the web interface. The repository owner does not require any access to the server itself.

Repository Backup

Subversion has no easy to manage interface for scheduling repository backups. Creating scheduled tasks becomes problematic with multiple repositories as a new task is required for each repository.

Sublime’s repository backup utility makes it easy to schedule and monitor backups for all of your repositories from a single web interface. Define the backup schedule once and all current and new repositories will be backed up without further interaction. Backup information is logged in the Windows Event Log so it is easy to monitor and ensure backups are happening correctly.
